2014Vortex develops GT-EV electric version

Vortex have also built a single Electric Vehicle (GT-EV) currently in daily use. We now have the potential to further develop the GT-EV model (both technically and visually) to keep pace with the evolution of the electric sports car market.

2011Vortex GTR replaced by Ecoboost-powered Vortex GTT version

New and more powerful engine options, engineering improvements and customer driven refinements were introduced.

Moving away from the self-build market, Vortex Automotive upgraded the engine options with the Ford Ecoboost 2.3 or 2.0 litre engine producing 350/280bhp.

The Vortex was featured in Wired magazine's March 2011 issue.

2008Vortex brand replaces Phantom name

The company changed its name to Vortex Automotive Ltd in 2008, allowing continued development and evolution on a tested and proven platform. At this point the car was developed to accommodate the Ford Duratec 2.0 turbo engine producing 280bhp.


2005Phantom Automotive launches the GTR superkit

After its first public outing, the unique GTR was soon in demand. These unique cars have been seen on TV, in various magazines, used in advertisements, featured in many car shows and turn heads wherever they go.

A star is bornEven Richard Hammond (co-presenter of Top Gear and Grand Tour) enthused about the GTR and coined the phrase 'super kit' on his Men & Motors report.



The company was originally formed by enthusiastic, accomplished industry professionals with significant expertise in engineering and design. Expertise that has been employed, challenged and honed with other manufacturers such as Ford, Jaguar, Rover, GM, Rolls Royce, Land Rover, TVR and Jensen.

Originally called Phantom Automotive Ltd, the first GT car was designed by former Jaguar designer, Chris Greville-Smith, and further developed by a world-leading automotive design studio in the UK.

The team's commitment to delivering superior performance was demonstrated by the use of wind tunnel testing and chassis finite element analysis.
